NOTE: Temporary Butte Creek Falls Trailhead and Campground closure lifted and area re-opens effective May 24, 2012
The Butte Creek Falls Trailhead and Butte Creek Campground area, which closed the first week of March 2012 to provide for public safety during a timber harvest in the area, re-opens effecitve May 24, 2012, in time for the Memorial Day week-end.
If you enjoy exploring off the beaten path and leaving the crowds behind to discover many unique, beautiful natural features, then the Santiam State Forest is the place for you.
This state forest's active recreation program offers a system of nonmotorized trails, small secluded campgrounds, and recreation areas throughout a diverse, actively-managed forest.
While you visit the forest, please keep in mind that it is a working forest with active timber management operations taking place. Drive responsibly on forest roads and be on the look-out at all times for log truck traffic and other visitors.
